MBACP Counsellor - Couples & Individuals

I am a counsellor supporting couples and individuals who are struggling to cope with relationship issues, bereavement, a cancer diagnosis, the menopause, the aftermath of a traumatic event or the impact of a disability or mental health problem. I also offer counselling for fertility, pregnancy loss and postnatal depression, as well as supporting clients who suffer from excessive levels of people-pleasing or co-dependency or who have lost their sense of identity and lack purpose and direction in life.

My professional experience includes many years of counselling cancer patients and their family members within a large NHS hospital in Surrey. I was a Wellbeing Advisor for the mental health charity Mind at a NHS Safe Haven during the Covid pandemic, supporting adults experiencing significant emotional distress or a mental health crisis. I am a qualified fertility counsellor and also a birth and postnatal doula. I have served as a member of the British Red Cross Emergency Response team providing psychological first aid to people at the scene of a major incident.

My role is to help you understand what is happening at this difficult point in your life and to help you manage the impact that stress, anxiety, fear or depression may be having on your mental health. Together we will explore your personal thoughts and feelings, we will look at your emotional health and wellbeing, and I will support you in creating boundaries, developing coping strategies or making changes to your life as we work through the problems you are facing – including the importance of mental health and self care.

I have a special interest in pregnancy-related issues, pregnancy loss or problems arising during the perinatal period and can support someone either individually or together with their partner. I can help you work through the emotions arising from fertility treatment, miscarriage, a traumatic birth, baby loss and postnatal depression. I also support new parents with the challenges this role can have on the relationship, and the transition of returning to work after maternity leave.

We will begin with an initial 90 minute consultation to discuss your needs and give you the opportunity to ask me any questions. All subsequent sessions last 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples. Please note I only provide counselling to adults (age 18+).

I offer counselling online (via Zoom or WhatsApp video) and see clients in person. I am available for morning, afternoon and evening appointments during the working week.

Experience

I have extensive experience of the corporate sector – prior to training as a counsellor I worked in corporate affairs (including within FTSE 50 companies) and understand the difficulties of balancing career and home life.
