Becky Messitt

BACP, Dip.Couns, Integrative Counsellor

I provide counselling for individuals aged 7 and above, including both young people and adults, within the Guilford area. Life often presents us with challenges, and I am here to offer you that additional support, creating a safe and welcoming space for you to share your unique story.

My profile reflects a diverse range of experience and expertise in several crucial areas. In the realm of general lifestyle concerns, I have assisted individuals dealing with issues such as low-self esteem, depression, anxiety, various fears, and a general lack of motivation. I’ve also worked with clients experiencing dissatisfaction with their home, work, and/or social life. In the sphere of relationships, I’ve helped people navigate through breakups, bullying, the impact of childhood “life scripts”, caring for vulnerable dependants, as well as addressing domestic violence and abuse.

Moreover, I have a deep understanding of gender, sexuality, and the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, I am well-versed in supporting individuals dealing with grief and loss, whether it be related to past, present, or future bereavement, or major life-challenging situations. My extensive experience in these areas allows me to provide valuable guidance and support to those seeking assistance in these domains.

As an Integrative counsellor, I seamlessly draw upon various therapeutic approaches and techniques, ensuring that your counselling experience is tailored to your unique needs. Part of this process involves a particular focus on exploring your unconscious mind and the underlying causes of your experiences. This exploration may bring up discussions about your childhood, relationships, thought patterns and or any other matters significant to you. As your therapist, my role is to bring attention to the observed patterns, while acknowledging the challenges you’ve been facing. Sessions are scheduled weekly and continue for as long as you find them beneficial.
