BA (Hons) MBACP Integrative Counsellor
Taking the first step to contacting a counsellor can be daunting and the experience can be difficult, especially if you are dealing with stressful life events. With my down to earth nature and warmth, I will aim to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I will provide a space which is respectful, trustworthy and non-judgemental and look to agree a course of therapy that fits with your individual needs.
Life can be emotionally difficult and exhausting, being impacted by past or present trauma, relationships and overwhelming feelings can result in you not knowing how to move forward. Our work together will give you the space to be seen and heard, supporting you to understand your feelings and thoughts and finding your way to create meaning in your experiences.
Because we are all individuals and unique in our needs, I use an integrative approach that means I can tailor my work to you. The modalities I integrate are Humanistic (Person-Centred) and psychodynamic. I also draw from a range of different techniques that support you through the process of counselling and help you gain more self-awareness sensitively and create positive change.
I offer both short- and long-term therapy and you can choose between daytime and evening appointments. Choosing the right therapist for your particular needs is important, to choose someone who you feel you can connect with and trust. I offer prospective clients a 20-minute free consultation which gives the opportunity to get to know each other and to understand your reasons in seeking therapy and to ensure you are comfortable with my approach.
I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), working in accordance with their ethical framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I hold a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and enjoy attending regular training as part of my ongoing professional development. I have a degree in Psychology and Business studies from the University of Manchester.
I have experience working with a wide range of client issues including – relationship issues, low mood, anxiety, depression, abusive relationships, loneliness, lack of purpose, bereavement, family dynamics and relational issues, low self-esteem, adjusting to life changes, self-harm, anger, stress at work and feeling stuck.
I have spent 15 years working in corporate organisations mentoring individuals and managing teams.
