Rachel Kitney

BA (Hons) MBACP Integrative Counsellor

Hello, my name is Rachel, and I appreciate you taking the time to look at my profile.

I am passionate about working with clients to help them learn, grow and gain a deeper understanding of themselves, helping clients in confronting limiting beliefs and creating positive change for themselves.

With my down to earth nature and warmth, I will provide a respectful, trustworthy and non-judgemental environment in which you can communicate your thoughts and feelings.

Do you want to make a positive shift in your life?

  • Do you have persistent worry that interferes with your daily activities?
  • Do you need to process painful or challenging childhood experiences?
  • Do you feel as though you can’t get forward in life and are stuck?
  • Do you overthink friendships and relationships, worry about what other people analyse, scrutinize every social encounter, and fear rejection?
  • Are you having problems with your partner, connections, family, or friends?
  • Do you find it difficult to say no and to disappoint people, which causes you to become anxious and find it difficult to put your needs first?
  • Do you continually compare yourself to others and feel like you’re never “good enough”?
  • Do you require approval from others to feel good about yourself

Living the life, we want might be hindered when we worry about what other people think, fear rejection, get criticized, or compare ourselves to them.

This can occasionally be the result of early events that set up patterns that are difficult to break without professional help.

If this resonates with you, we can work together on:

  • Self-esteem and confidence, feeling not good enough
  • Working though traumatic event
  • Relationship, attachment and family challenges
  • Anxiety/Depression
  • Perfectionism/People Pleasing
  • Low mood/Low self-worth
  • Excessive worry and self-criticism
  • Feeling guilty or being ashamed
  • Stressful childhood experiences

Experience

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in different settings, supporting people in their day-to-day challenges and assisting them in making the right choices in their personal and professional lives, helping them to learn, grow, and develop a greater understanding of themselves. I’ve also mentored and coached people who were facing burnout, redundancy, job stress, and anxiety, giving them the opportunity to address their emotional difficulties and requirements.

I understand the demands of family life and the issues that can occur, having worked with children in their early years and their families; working through them can enhance relationships and help discover new ways to relate to family members and others in life.

Relationship issues, attachment, low mood, anxiety, depression, abusive relationships, loneliness, lack of purpose, bereavement, family dynamics and relational issues, low self-esteem, adjusting to life changes, self-harm, anger, divorce, intrusive thoughts, overthinking, work stress, and feeling stuck are some of the issues I’ve worked with.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), working in accordance with their ethical framework for good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I hold a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and enjoy attending regular training as part of my ongoing professional development. I have a degree in Psychology and Business studies from the University of Manchester.
