MBACP, BSc (Hons) in Counselling, Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
After nearly 30 years as a Nurse in the NHS, I trained as an Integrative Counsellor. Much of my nursing career was working in Oncology (Cancer) and Palliative Care. Among my career in nursing, I have worked as a community Macmillan Nurse, a Macmillan Breast Care Nurse Specialist, and for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
As a counsellor I have experience working with young people aged 16-25 and their parents for a young person counselling charity in Hampshire, and currently work for a Cancer Charity as a self-employed counsellor working with clients who have cancer or are affected by cancer. This includes bereavement and grief counselling. I am also an affiliate counsellor at The Eaves Counselling and Psychology Service in Farnham.
I am passionate at helping people improve their mental health and encouraging clients to grow and overcome their issues. I have a specialist interest in chronic illness, cancer and bereavement/grief counselling and working as both a nurse and a counsellor helps me have a better understanding of certain medical conditions and how illness can affect so many aspects of your life. The communication skills in nursing enable me to be truly empathetic.
