Diana Brotherton

Msc Psychotherapy, MUKCP, DIT practitioner

I am an accredited integrative counselling psychotherapist with many years of experience working in both the NHS and the private sectors, or for businesses and charitable organizations.

My aim is to help people to resolve their inner conflicts through deeper reflection and insightfulness, so they (and their loved ones) could perhaps live more fulfilling lives.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where through lively conversation and using normal everyday language, you could allow yourself to hear your inner voice.

My practice is influenced by humanistic/existential thinking, psychoanalytic concepts and continental philosophy.

My personal interests include cooking, travel, nature and I believe these are relevant to my work through a curiosity and experience through exploration of the magic of the unknown.

I specialize in relationship work with individuals or couples.

I also offer DIT (Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy) programs (these are specifically tailored to each person I am working with) for young adults who feel emotionally challenged due to facing difficulties in relationships with others.

Experience

In addition to private practice, I have been working in the NHS since 2012, providing psychological treatments to people presenting with severe emotional de-regulations. I also work with charities and other organizations delivering supervision or tailored programs to support the valuable work of their employees. An example is my work as supervisor with bereavement counsellors working at Cruse.

I am committed toward ongoing professional development and attend regularly relevant workshops and trainings. I am particularly interested in learning about various techniques to complement talking therapies toward emotional regulation, these include for example making small but meaningful changes to how we look after our bodies (nutrition, sleep, connecting with nature, etc). A wellbeing check could be added to any talking therapy program, upon request.
