Emily Bristow

MBACP, FdSc Integrative Counsellor

I am an Integrative counsellor with a keen focus on empowering my clients. I work relationally with the emphasis on the connection between client and therapist being an important element of therapy.

I have a background in the MoD, both working as a civilian and living within the military which has given me a valuable insight into how 2 contrasting ways of life can work together, but also how hard it can be on the individuals who are living in them.

I work relationally with a keen focus on empowering the client through providing a safe space to explore who they really are, what their needs are and ultimately what they are capable of achieving. Using an integrative approach which draws on different methods of counselling to suit the client’s individual needs, my down-to-earth personality puts clients at ease and offer an equal partnership in their counselling experience.

I used my lived experiences to offer a deeper level of understanding the stresses on relationships, but most importantly, the relationship the client has with themselves.

Experience

I’ve had the privilege of working in a Women’s Support Centre offering counselling to vulnerable clients who are looking to take back some form of control in their lives and most recently, I have worked for the NHS using short-term solution-focused therapy for the management of depression and anxiety.
