MSc Counselling & Psychotherapy MBACP (Accred)

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, and it may be hard to know where to turn.

I’m an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Guildford, offering in-person sessions for adults, young people aged 16+, and couples.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling offers the opportunity to pause and reflect, to be heard and understood without judgment.

Together, we can work towards:

– Managing anxiety, social anxiety, depression or stress
– Improving communication and relationships
– Building confidence and self-awareness
– Understanding experience of ADHD or Autism
– Managing study or work-related challenges
– Recovering from burnout or exhaustion

Every client’s situation is unique, and the work we do together will be shaped around your goals, preferences and pace.

About Me

Over the past 20 years, I’ve supported people with anxiety, social anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, work-related stress, burnout, and experiences of neurodiversity such as ADHD or Autism. I also work with clients managing study-related stress, procrastination, exam pressure and confidence issues.

Areas of Special Interest

I have a particular interest in neurodiversity and over 10 years’ experience supporting clients who are exploring their neurotype or learning about a recent diagnosis of ADHD and/or Autism. In our sessions, we can reflect together on what this means for you and explore practical strategies that focus on strengths and wellbeing.

Couples Counselling (including Neurodivergent Couples)

Couples counselling offers space to explore how you relate to one another and the patterns that may be affecting your connection. We will look at communication, expectations, and how each partner experiences the relationship. The aim is not to place blame, but to support understanding and help you find ways of connecting that feel clearer, kinder and more sustainable.

I have particular experience working with neurodivergent couples, where partners may have different communication styles, sensory needs, processing speeds or emotional expression.

Together, we can explore these differences with curiosity and respect and develop approaches that support both individuals and the relationship.

What To Expect

My approach is collaborative, supportive and tailored to each person’s needs.

For both brief and longer-term work, we begin with an initial consultation to discuss needs, answer any questions, and start shaping our work together.

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

Sessions are usually weekly at the same time. Bi-weekly sessions are also available.

Please feel free to get in touch to enquire about counselling in person in Guildford. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

How We Can Work Together

Single Session Therapy (SST)

Single Session Therapy offers the chance to focus on one concern that feels most pressing right now. In this session, we take time to look at the issue together and identify practical steps you can take away with you. More sessions are available if needed. This approach can be useful for difficulties such as sleep problems, procrastination, work stress or questions about direction or change. A short reflective questionnaire is available beforehand if helpful.

Brief Therapy

Brief therapy offers short-term support, usually over three or four sessions. The focus is on finding useful strategies and making changes that feel realistic and manageable. We will look at what already works in your life, identify strengths, and agree goals together.

Longer-Term Counselling

Longer-term counselling allows space to explore your experiences, patterns and feelings in greater depth. I draw from different therapeutic approaches, including CBT, so that our work is shaped around your individual needs. The aim is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can develop self-awareness and new ways of living that feel more satisfying and sustainable.

Experience

Professional Experience

My professional experience includes 13 years as Head of Counselling for a group of Further and Higher Education Colleges. For 7 years, I have worked within a local university counselling service, supporting students and staff from the UK and internationally. This work has strengthened my appreciation of individual difference, and the many cultural, academic and personal pressures people experience.

Professional Background

Previously a nurse, I bring a holistic understanding of health and emotional wellbeing. Having lived and worked in East Africa and the Middle East, I value cultural diversity and individual difference.
