PGDip, MBACP, Integrative Counsellor and Supervisor
Hello, my name is Deborah, and I have been a counsellor for 25 years, and a Supervisor for 6 years. I work with adults 18+ and I am a full member of the BACP.
Sometimes, we realise we need some support to cope with how we feel, but we may think it is too small to mention, or that it’s too much to share. You might have relationship, work or family difficulties? Perhaps, you are feeling anxious or low? Just having someone to listen and support you in a non-judgemental way can help with perspective and recognising unseen patterns or coping mechanisms.
I have much experience working with anxiety, stress, depression, burnout, low self-esteem or confidence, past or recent trauma, relationship issues, family conflicts, sexual abuse and loss. I also have an interest in the neurodivergent umbrella.
My counselling style is Integrative, drawing from more than one type of counselling approach. This means I am able to tailor the therapy according to my client’s needs and provide either shorter term solution focussed/behavioural therapy, or work with them in an open-ended way.
Today is the first, very positive, step towards feeling lighter in yourself and I can offer you a non-judgemental, safe space to begin your journey. If you would like to talk about this, I offer a (free) 20-minute telephone session to ‘meet you’ and learn more about your therapeutic aims. If we are happy to proceed, we can set up our first session at my peaceful practice in Guildford and move forward collaboratively at your pace.
Most of my experience comes from my long-term role as a counsellor and supervisor within an international company. Here, I work with a very diverse workforce of adults experiencing a broad range of difficulties in their wellbeing. I am also a supervisor and teacher at NESCOT College in Surrey, supervising student counsellors in training. My previous counselling roles were based within mental health charities, Women’s Aid and Royal Holloway University.
