Tyler White
MBACP | Dip. Counsellor
Hello, my name is Tyler and I am a relational, integrative counsellor.
I aim to walk alongside you as we work through whatever brings you to therapy – acting as a steady, regulated and consistent presence in your corner as you navigate your journey.
As my client, you are the focus of the work, and the relationship between us matters enormously. Together, we’ll aim to build a space where you feel safe, seen, heard and supported. It would be an honour to be part of that process with you.
Together, we can unpack whatever feels like it’s holding you back from living life the way you’d like to. Whether that’s anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, grief, difficult relationships, a sense of stuck-ness, or simply a feeling that something isn’t quite working anymore – we can look at that together, when you’re ready.
I offer compassionate support and gentle enquiry, standing alongside you as you explore your internal world, helping you better understand yourself and your patterns, so that together we can work towards real and lasting change.
I know how daunting it can be to reach out for therapy, so I want to reassure you that my approach is relational and collaborative. Alongside traditional talking therapy, I also offer more creative approaches if that appeals to you – ways of working that can help when words feel hard to find. This might include sand tray work, cards (which we can interpret together), inner child work, or exploring values and beliefs on paper, so we can look at them together.
Working integratively means that I draw from a number of approaches — person-centred, psychodynamic, transactional analysis, and CBT — depending on where we are in the work and what feels most relevant in the moment. I also like to bring in somatic work where helpful, paying attention to the body alongside the mind and helping to build an awareness of how the two connect.
If my profile resonates with you, then I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch for an initial 20-minute phone call, where we can discuss what it would look like to work together. You can contact me using the details below – ideally send me an email, and from there we can schedule a time that works for us both.
Experience
I spent over 12 years coaching in combat sports, and five years working as a youth worker and mentor for a CIC which supports vulnerable, young people in the local community. Alongside this work, I completed my counselling studies and placements with two different providers.
I spent just over a year at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, providing counselling support to those experiencing bereavement and grief — a profound experience, and one I value immensely. I also volunteered at the Mindspace Foundation counselling service, working with issues including grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma, anxiety and depression.
I currently hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and I’m studying towards a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling with The Mindspace Foundation.
