Sarah Vickery
MSc Couns Psych, MBACP (accred)
I am a qualified psychotherapist with a degree in Psychology and an Masters in Counselling Psychology.
I have comprehensive training in various disciplines such as Humanistic, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Existential Philosophy. I use an integration of these and other approaches in my work, seeking to offer the appropriate support to best match the needs of each client.
In my practice my approach is driven by building a relationship of trust and respect with my client, so they can feel safe to explore their presenting issues. We work at a pace governed by the client and together we examine their experiences to gain a better understanding and self awareness, considering alternative perspectives and behaviours.
I work with both individuals and couples and have worked with a wide range of issues including but not exclusively, anxiety and depression, loss and bereavement, living with chronic illness and pain, eating disorders, abuse, addiction, childhood trauma, relationships issues, self harm, low self esteem and loneliness.
If you would like to get in touch we can arrange a free initial call which lasts around 20mins, where we can discuss your needs and any questions or concerns you may have before moving forward.
Experience
Prior to qualifying as a therapist I worked for 12 years in a variety of mental health settings including charities such as the Mental AfterCare Association, St Mary Abbots Rehabilitation and Training and for the NHS. Since qualifying I have worked as a therapist at the Phylis Tuckwell hospice and as a Renal Counsellor at Kidney Care UK as well as in private practice.
