Ann-Mari Campbell
MNCPS Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Originally from Norway, I moved to the UK about 30 years ago after being fortunate enough to have lived and experienced different countries such as Spain, Argentina and the US. This, in return, has given me a better and broader understanding of different cultures, religions and way of life.
For a long time, I have wanted to create a space where people feel genuinely heard, understood and able to talk openly about the things they are carrying, without fear of judgement. Over the years, my own experiences, alongside supporting children, young people, adults and families through difficult periods in their lives, have reinforced just how important it is to have someone in your corner when things feel overwhelming. This is what lead me to counselling and psychotherapy.
For me, therapy is all about creating a trusting, transparent and collaborative relationship where you can speak freely about your experiences and feel listened to without judgement and misunderstandings. Communication is key to developing a happier self, a stronger sense of self-worth and in doing so, creating a more balanced outlook.
I feel incredibly privileged to be able to support people through this process.
Experience
As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I draw upon a range of approaches so that my work can be tailored to the individual rather than taking a “one-size-fits all” approach.
With over 20 years’ experience working with children, teenagers and adults as well as families, I am familiar with the challenges faced by many and the struggles encountered trying to navigate a constantly changing social and digital landscape, having the knowledge and experience of triggers that young people face in and out of school, college and online.
For parents and their children, where appropriate, my therapeutic style includes working transparently and collaboratively with all parties,
I am also experienced in working closely with neurodivergent young people and adults, those in the care system as well as adopted children and adults who were adopted.
Furthermore, I have also a wealth of experience working with adults and young people struggling with addiction, and associated mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, angst and low mood, this was gained through working with Catalyst. The aim being improving lives in terms of stability and wellbeing and reducing harm to themselves and their families.
