Melloney Oliver
MBACP, PG Dip Psychotherapist
If you find yourself thinking, ‘is it me?’ I might be the right therapist for you. Beginning therapy can bring up all sorts of feelings, and it’s understandable if you’re unsure where to start. Together, we can create a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin to understand yourself with curiosity rather than judgement.
My Approach
The psychodynamic approach is based on the understanding that our experiences, relationships and ways of coping shape the way we experience ourselves, others and the world around us. Therapy offers an opportunity to explore these patterns together, helping you make sense of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may previously have felt confusing or overwhelming. This deeper understanding can open up new possibilities for relating to yourself and others.
Experience
My path to becoming a therapist began with a degree in Psychology, Philosophy, and Sociology. I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychodynamic Theory and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice at the University of Oxford.
I worked in several placements with different specialties including addiction and gambling, eating disorder support and online therapy. Alongside supporting clients both online and in person, I have a deep interest in how the digital world impacts our mental health.
My research specifically explores how we navigate online dating and how the design of digital platforms changes the way we connect and relate to one another. I continue my postgraduate studies and professional development to ensure our work together is always grounded in the latest clinical insights, the latest of which is couples counselling.
