Ann-Mari Campbell

MNCPS Psychotherapist

As a qualified integrative counsellor and Member of the National Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, my experience and training have equipped me with a broad understanding and knowledge of different therapeutic approaches. This enables me to offer each client an approach that is tailored to their needs and preferences.

I was born in Norway and have lived in many different countries around the globe. This has given me a better understanding and insight into a variety of cultures, religions and way of life. This, in return, has been invaluable in gaining a broader understanding of the human mind and how life events may impact us in different ways. These challenges may include mild to moderate anxiety, adverse lived childhood experiences, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, low self-worth, loneliness, self-harm, EBSNA (this also impacts the wider family), to name a few. I work in partnership with my clients, creating a trusting and transparent environment where my clients can speak freely and openly about their struggles, without feeling judged or misunderstood. Communication is key to a happier self and a more balanced outlook.

Experience

With over 20 years’ experience working with teenagers and their parents in an educational setting, I am familiar with the difficulties that many encounter navigating a constantly changing social and digital landscape. I recognise the triggers that young people face in and out of school or college, and online. For parents, trying to help a teenager can be taxing, emotionally and practically. My therapeutic style includes working transparently and collaboratively with parents as appropriate.

Having worked closely with teenagers who are neurodivergent, those in the care system or adopted, and those receiving support from Children’s Services, I have expertise in helping disadvantaged young people deal with the daily challenges of secondary education. Through this, I have established valuable links with local schools and external agencies and gained an in-depth understanding of SEND and EHCP processes.

Through Catalyst Support in Surrey, I have supported adults struggling with addiction, low mood, anxiety and depression, helping each client work through their challenges and improve their mental health and wellness.
