Hello, my name is Tyler, and I’m a relational, integrative counsellor. I work predominantly with men and young adults who want to explore their thoughts and feelings, perhaps for the first time. With this in mind, I aim to walk alongside you – acting as a steady, regulated and consistent presence in your corner as you navigate the process.
Together we can explore what it is that brings you to counselling, whether that be grief, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficult relationships, or simply a feeling that something isn’t quite working anymore – we can look at it together, when you’re ready.
I also understand that it can be daunting to reach out for therapy and I really resonate with that, so a key part of my work involves creating a space that feels safe, supportive and accessible. I do this by working collaboratively and relationally, approaching our work in a way that feels right for you.
As part of my practice, I am also adaptable and flexible with how I work and like to offer more creative approaches to those who find that of benefit. This can include: SandStory, working with cards, inner child work, etc.
Being an integrative counsellor, means that I can draw upon a number of different counselling modalities to best suit what comes up for each individual I work with. At the core of my work is a Person-centred approach, but I draw particularly from Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, and CBT. I also find value in looking at the relationship between us and how that can also be used to explore how you may relate to yourself and to others.
If my profile resonates with you, then I’d love to hear from you. Please feel free to get in touch for an initial 20-minute phone call, where we can discuss what it would look like to work together. You can contact me using the details below – ideally send me an email, and from there we can schedule a time that works for us both.
Experience
I spent over 12 years coaching in combat sports, and five years working as a youth worker and mentor for a CIC which supports vulnerable, young people in the local community. Alongside this work, I completed my counselling studies and placements with two different providers.
I spent just over a year at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, providing counselling support to those experiencing bereavement and grief — a profound experience, and one I value immensely. I also volunteered at the Mindspace Foundation counselling service, working with issues including grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma, anxiety and depression.
I currently hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, and I’m studying towards a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling with The Mindspace Foundation.
