Tricia Slater

BSc(Hons), Adv Dip, MNCPS, MHFA, Counsellor, Psychotherapist

Hello and a warm welcome to my profile. I’m Tricia and I’m an Integrative Counsellor with a degree in Applied Psychology. I specialise in working with individuals and couples who are having relationship difficulties. I work in person with clients in the Haslemere and Godalming areas.

Relationships and the need for connection are fundamental to our wellbeing. I can help you make sense of the difficulties you are experiencing. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to explore and empower you to make changes. I have been described as having a warm and compassionate approach.

Are you and your partner having problems around communication? Perhaps you don’t feel heard or understood. Are trust issues getting in the way of your relationship?

I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with fear of abandonment, over dependency, fear of rejection and commitment issues. I believe that in order to fully heal a relationship, and ourselves, we need to change unhealthy patterns of behaviour. I help clients to identify, understand and change these patterns so that they can move forward. I will listen with empathy and care, and support you to find a way forward. I also see clients who are struggling with anxiety, low mood and low self-esteem.

I am Spanish, so I am happy to work with Spanish speaking clients.

I create a safe space for you to bring whatever it is that you want to work through, and I will not judge anything you share with me in our sessions. Being an Integrative Counsellor means that I can share tools from various theories of counselling. I can also share strategies that are used in Mindfulness, these can be particularly helpful when working with anxiety.

I am a registered and accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). This means I have met the NCPS high quality standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner, and practice in accordance with the guidelines and code of ethics of the NCPS.

Get in contact if you want to know more. I offer a free 15-minute consultation for a brief discussion about what you would like support with and where I can answer any questions you might have.

Experience

I have worked in the field of mental health for over 25 years, this includes supporting carers, as well as people who struggle with severe mental health and substance abuse issues. I have also supported adults with autism in support of roles as well as a Counsellor.

I’m an Associate Counsellor for a charity that offer low cost counselling to the community and I also work for Better Help. I work with individuals and with couples who are struggling with their relationships, and/or with anxiety, low mood and low self-esteem.
