Adrian Stearman
MBACP (Accred.)
An experienced integrative counsellor providing a safe and confidential space to explore concerns. I bring openness, honesty and warmth to bear on painful and difficult aspects of life. From working with anxiety and depression to thinking about meaning and purpose in life, I offer a private in-person practice at the Eaves whilst also offering remote sessions where needed. I also work within the NHS and have over 20 years of experience in the addictions field.
Experience
I have worked with others in a therapeutic setting since 2014 with a range of difficulties including anxiety, shame, stress, addiction, depression and relationship difficulties. I have seen clients who are referred via GPs and those who ‘self-refer’. I have worked in both short-term settings (6-12 weeks) and longer-term settings (1 year+).
I am trained in Integrative Counselling which aims to integrate the various schools of therapy, these originally being the humanistic and psychoanalytic schools of psychotherapy. The integrative approach is inclusive rather than exclusive – the core philosophy being that all modalities have valuable contributions to make. I, therefore, take an interest in and continue to develop my understanding of what it means to be human and, in the context of psychotherapy; existential, transpersonal, analytic and humanistic approaches to self-understanding.
