Gemma Harfleet

MBACP Counsellor

Hello, I’m Gemma, a qualified Humanistic Trauma Counsellor offering private counselling for adults. I have a particular passion for supporting people who have experienced trauma, including domestic and sexual abuse, addiction, homelessness, LGBTQ+ and other difficult or life-changing experiences. I understand that trauma can affect many areas of life, including anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, and emotional wellbeing.

I provide a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly at a pace that feels right for you. My approach is grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and change when they feel genuinely heard, accepted, and understood. Working creatively and using trauma-informed approaches, I tailor our sessions to meet your individual needs, supporting you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with compassion and curiosity.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I believe that feeling safe, respected, and accepted creates the foundation for meaningful change. I welcome adults from all backgrounds, regardless of age, culture, gender identity, sexuality, neurodivergence, or life experience, and I am committed to providing an inclusive and compassionate service.

I hold a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling and a Diploma in Trauma Therapy and am a registered member of the BACP. I also undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development to ensure my practice remains safe, ethical, and informed.

I offer face-to-face counselling with both short- and long-term therapy available, depending on your needs. If you’d like to find out more or arrange an initial conversation, I’d be happy to hear from you.
