Julia Thompson

Therapeutic Counsellor, CPCAB Level 4 Dip, MA (Oxon), Counsellor, Psychotherapist

I offer calm, non-judgemental one-to-one support to help you make sense of what’s going on in your life, when you may be feeling confused or overwhelmed, or simply in need of a place to breathe and reflect quietly. Our sessions will be a place where you can speak openly, feel heard, and build your confidence and sense of self. Our relationship is one in which I hope you will feel fully supported and wholly respected.

People may come to see me when they’re struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, or the pressures of work, relationships or family concerns. You might be finding it hard to trust your instincts, or feel stuck in patterns of overthinking or self-criticism. Together, we can explore what’s been holding you back, and begin to build a clearer, more confident voice, where your choices feel more your own.

I am a qualified counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB), and also have an earlier degree in an unrelated field, which brings a broader outlook to my reflective practice. I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked for many years in recruitment and HR, supporting people through change, challenge and decision-making, as well as navigating my own family life. This background has deepened my understanding of the pressures people face in life and work, and how important it can be to have the space to talk things through.

My counselling approach is warm, relational, and responsive to you as an individual. I will go at your pace, and I offer open ended therapy, meaning you can decide when you feel it is time to stop, or take a break.
