Karine Robinson

BSc(Hons), MBPS, MBACP, Dip. Couns. Integrative CYP Counsellor

I am a professionally qualified CYP Integrative Counsellor with a psychology degree. In my practice, I have helped people of all ages and backgrounds with anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship issues. My experience as a flight attendant has given me an understanding of different lifestyles and challenges people face. I can help those dealing with anxiety disorders, exam stress, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, grief, etc. If your child gets help from other professionals, I can work with them to improve the therapeutic relationship.

In my career, I have always connected well with teenagers and young adults. I understand that every young person has different feelings about meeting with a counsellor. Some find it helpful to have a private space to speak with an adult not connected to their family or school. However, some may be reluctant to see me for various reasons. It can be frustrating to have to share your story repeatedly. It’s disheartening when adults have their ideas about what needs to change. Your young person might worry that I can’t understand what they’re going through or believe that talking won’t help or change things. I will actively listen to their concerns, address any worries, and ensure they understand confidentiality. Together, we will figure out what matters most to them and work on finding positive changes to help make sense of their experiences.

Experience

I have more than 20 years of experience as a psychologist working abroad. I have provided counselling and therapy to children aged 8 and older, young people, and adults. I also worked for a year at a counselling service in London, where I supported young people and adults. My experience also includes offering counselling and psychotherapy to university students, young people, children, and their families.

I have practised in Reading for over two years, providing dedicated support to children and adults of all ages and all genders affected by rape and sexual abuse either recently or in the past, and for people who support them, including family and friends.

I am DBS checked, adhere to the BACP code of ethics, attend regular clinical supervision, and hold professional indemnity insurance.
