MBACP Counsellor

About Me

I’m Andrea and I am a counsellor based in Guildford offering in-person counselling sessions.

Before starting my Private Practice, I spent 17 years helping people with issues affecting mental health such as burnout, relationship problems, ill health, and work-life balance in the corporate workplace.

I find the counselling relationship is like no other. It offers a safe and non-judgmental space to explore thoughts and feelings without fear of criticism or misunderstanding whilst valuing you as an individual.

What can I help with?

My training and experience enables me to support with a wide range of issues that can impact mental health including;

– Depression, Anxiety and Stress

– Relationship problems such as communication difficulties, conflicts, infidelity, trust issues, or other challenges in relationships.

– Life Transitions whether that is starting university, changing careers, getting married, becoming a parent, or facing retirement.

– Grief and Loss associated with the death of a loved one, divorce or separation, miscarriage, or other significant losses in one’s life.

– Self-Exploration and Personal Growth exploring your identity, values, beliefs, and goals.

– Behavioural Issues such as addiction, substance abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, anger management problems, or other destructive behaviours.

– Work-related Stress such as burnout, conflict with colleagues or supervisors, job dissatisfaction, or difficulties balancing work and personal life.

– Health Concerns such as chronic illness, disability, or other health-related challenges and the emotional impact of the condition.

– Trauma and Abuse providing survivors with a safe and supportive environment to process their experiences and heal from emotional wounds.

– Decision-Making and Problem-Solving such as helping individuals navigate difficult decisions, clarify their priorities, explore options, and develop strategies for problem-solving and goal achievement.

How do I work?

I am a Person-Centred counsellor, which essentially means that I believe everyone has the capacity to heal, grow and change.

Providing you with a safe, confidential space where you can explore your feelings, thoughts, and emotions without judgment is at the core of the process.

Talking openly can help you gain clarity, move towards acceptance, and develop your own way of moving forward.

I offer both short-term (6-12 sessions) and long-term counselling. Short term counselling is often focused on a particular issue/topic where long-term counselling will allow us to explore issues, experiences, thoughts and feelings in more depth, when you feel ready to do so.

Experience

My counselling experience includes;

  • Counselling adults at Sandhurst Counselling Service both short and long term.
  • Counselling adults specialising in supporting with drug and alcohol misuse.
  • Counselling children and young people with Place2Be.

Prior to me becoming a counsellor, I worked in the Employee Wellbeing space in various industries including transport, regulation and sports.
