Valerie Arthur

MBACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Hello and welcome to my profile. I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults and young people aged 16 years and over. I offer short and long term therapy and can work with you in person, online or by telephone.

I appreciate that life can be and feel challenging. Relationships and experiences from both your past and present can leave you feeling confused, anxious, depressed or simply overwhelmed.

By offering a compassionate, non-judgemental space to share your thoughts and feelings I can provide you with the opportunity to reflect on the place you have reached. A space to untangle your feelings; a space to consider your past, present and future; a space to pause, be yourself and work towards a place of growth and improved wellbeing.

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). My work draws on a variety of counselling approaches which allows me to tailor my approach to your specific needs. I will work with you at a pace that suits you and my approach is grounded in respect, empathy and compassion.

My Availability

I offer an in-person counselling service every Tuesday morning (9am-1pm) and Wednesday afternoon (1pm-5pm) at the Eaves Guildford.

I also offer an online and telephone counselling service. My availability can be more flexible using these platforms so please do contact me directly if this interests you.

Next Steps

I recognise that reaching out can feel daunting. I also appreciate that coming to counselling is a big commitment- both in terms of time and finances. It is therefore important for you to feel at ease with your therapist and comfortable to talk openly.

With this in mind, I therefore offer a free 30 minute telephone consultation so that we can get a feel for how we might work together. If you would like to arrange an initial consultation please do contact me either by email or phone to arrange a convenient time for us to have a chat. You can find my contact details at the bottom of my profile.

Experience

Alongside my private counselling practice I also work within a service offering short term counselling to 16-25 year olds. I have also previously worked for MIND – offering a counselling service to adults 18+.

I have many years of experience supporting families and young people. I know that life can be complicated and complex. Relationships and circumstances can become strained for multiple reasons and sometimes professional help can help to get things back on track.
