Sarah Child

MBACP Counsellor and Psychotherapist

As your counsellor, I will support you in making the changes you need to be able to live a happier and more fulfilling life.

I will provide you with a safe and confidential space where I can help you to understand the root of your problems. Offering you a supportive relationship can better enable you to talk through any issues or challenges that you may be experiencing. I will not give advice or offer the answers to your problems but will remain alongside you and help you find your own way forward and find better ways of coping with issues. The bedrock of my practice is to listen without judgement and unconditionally accept you. We all experience the world differently within our lives and relationships and there is much value in our uniqueness which is not always understood and appreciated by ourselves or others.

During the time that we work together I will help you to better understand yourself, in how you think, feel, react and respond. Increasing your self-awareness can positively change both how you feel about yourself and others and help improve your relationships.

I offer individual counselling to adults, young people (17+) and trainee counsellors.

I also work with couples in therapy providing a safe, private space for them to explore any issues or concerns within the relationship. It is an opportunity to gain new perspectives and learn new ways of being together. This is enabled by improving communication and exploring difference, conflict styles and intimacy alongside identifying what both partners want and need in the relationship.

I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation online or by telephone. This is an opportunity for us to meet, discuss your needs and for me to answer any questions that you may have.

I offer appointments Face to Face, Online (via Zoom) and by Telephone. I also offer Walk and Talk sessions (weather permitting). Appointments will normally be on a weekly basis at a mutually convenient time. Making the commitment to attending a regular weekly appointment does enable our work together to be its most helpful and effective.

Experience

My experience has developed from working with clients facing many different challenges over the last nine years in my private practice at The Eaves.

I previously worked within a team of staff Counsellors at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham in a role supporting Bereaved and Pre- Bereaved clients and their families. I worked with individuals and facilitated groups. I supported clients through their adjustment to illness, losses and grief alongside a wide range of other issues and challenges. I also provided 1-1 and group supervision to both qualified and trainee volunteer counsellors.
