Martin Spooner
MBACP Counsellor
My name is Martin, and I am an integrative therapeutic counsellor working in Farnham, GU9.
Your sessions are a private space to explore whatever issues and concerns may be troubling you, and we will regularly review your progress to ensure that your objectives are being met. My approach is predominantly person-centred, meaning that the focus is on whatever you choose to bring into the consultation room. I will always treat you with respect and will provide you with an opportunity to disclose without feeling judged in any way.
My role is to support you and allow you the space to process your current emotions, thoughts, past experiences, fears, anxieties, traumas etc., all of which may be combining to affect you in your daily life and relationships. By exploring these, I will help you to increase your own self-awareness so you can know yourself better and understand the reasons that lie behind the emotions that you experience.
Ultimately my aim is to develop a trusted therapeutic relationship with my clients where they can feel safe and empowered to unencumber themselves.
Experience
Prior to commencing private practice I have been working as a counsellor within Aldershot NHS Primary Care Network and I have worked with clients in both long and short term scenarios.
I am also currently working in Primary and secondary as a counsellor as part of my ongoing training to work with children and young people.
