Lisa Larcombe
MBACP registered Psychotherapist
As an integrative trained practitioner, I draw on person centred and psychodynamic theories to help gain insight into the world of my clients. I have my own life experiences, but my counselling practice is centred on you—your experiences, your challenges, and your journey toward understanding and wellbeing within the safety of a confidential, empathic and non-judgemental space.
I work face to face in the comfortable private rooms at the Eaves in Farnham. After an initial assessment if we agree to work together, I spend time getting to know you, how you experience life and about the difficulties you are struggling with. We will then prioritise your troubles and work together towards better understanding of struggles and how to negotiate them effectively.
I aim to provide a space where you can feel supported, moving at your pace towards change or acceptance. Whether it is reprocessing the past or focusing on your here and now experiences. I believe that talking with a trusted confidant can help aid in understanding ourselves and our place in the world, improving confidence and allowing us to move towards acceptance, self-compassion and improved mental health and resilience. My aim is to be that confidant for my clients.
Experience
Having had a 35-year career as a biomedical scientist in the NHS I came to counselling, as a profession after my own rehabilitation following serious injuries. My recovery journey introduced me to the life changing benefits of effective counselling and after retiring early from the NHS, I retrained and qualified as a counsellor.
I have in the past worked across 3 agencies including:
- Youthline in Bracknell providing talking therapy to young people between 12 and 25 as well as parents and carers
- Catalyst Counselling (Woking) working with clients struggling with post treatment recovery from addiction as well as loved ones in relationships with addict
- Cornerstone Counselling (Yateley) providing open ended counselling
Since qualifying I have maintained an active CPD portfolio and am working towards full accreditation with the British association of counselling and psychotherapists.
In addition, I have completed training to facilitate a self-paced guided online well being program called Hope for the community.
