Kerry Sapseid
FdSc; MBACP; BA; HDipEd Counsellor
It takes courage to explore the pain of life, loss and change. I offer a safe, confidential space where you can explore thoughts, feelings and experiences with honesty and no judgement. I am a Humanistic counsellor which means my approach is rooted in the ‘here-and-now’ of how we live our life. Past experiences and relationships are explored in terms of the impact they have on us today, allowing us to pursue meaningful engagement despite fear and the unknown. I offer person-centred and existential therapy, as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have particular interest in working with addiction and substance use disorder. I also specialise in working with young people, as well as with parents of children in the care system.
I work with individuals aged 16 and over and offer both short and long-term counselling.
As a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I adhere to its Ethical Framework and attend regular supervision.
Experience
For several years I worked with young people as a pastoral lead in an independent school, giving me unique insight into the mental health issues faced by adolescents. My lifelong interest in helping people feel seen and ‘held’ led me to pursue a career in counselling. My experience expanded to working within a drug and alcohol counselling service, as well as a general mental health service. Alongside private practice, I offer training on understanding addiction and working in groups. I also facilitate SMART recovery UK groups.
