Chris Faulkner

Counsellor and Psychotherapist/Clinical Supervisor BA (Hons) FdSc. PGCert (Supervision) BACP (Accred) PNCPS (Accred)

I am a BACP and NCPS accredited, counsellor and psychotherapist. I am also a recognised BUPA therapist and run my practice fully online, offering secure and confidential video sessions that make therapy accessible for you wherever you are based.

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of approaches to meet each client’s unique needs. I believe therapy can restore inner equilibrium, support healing from past experiences, and provide a safe, non-judgemental space to explore challenges and build resilience.

What I offer

An empathic understanding that starting therapy at any time of life can be daunting and a cause of anxiety. A judgement free space is provided for you to explore feelings and emotions around anything that is uncomfortable or stressful.

Our first session would be focused on getting to know what you would like to get from the therapeutic process. It will give you a chance to decide whether you feel you would like to commence therapy and whether I am the right therapist for you. It’s also a good opportunity for you to ask me any questions about my qualifications, experience and credentials.

The first session also gives me an opportunity to ensure that I am appropriately qualified to work with the material you are bringing to therapy. An example could be issues around adoption or psychosexual issues, as there are separate qualifications required to work with these issues.

Experience

My practice offers both short-term counselling (6 to 26 sessions) for specific issues and longer-term, open-ended psychotherapy sessions for those wishing to work through deeper or unresolved difficulties. In addition, I can provide sessions in Spanish for the Hispanic community.

My background includes bereavement and end-of-life counselling in a hospice setting, as well as extensive experience in workplace issues such as bullying, harassment, redundancy and disciplinary matters. I have also supported families navigating separation and co-parenting arrangements. I also specialise in supporting clients who are or have experienced coercive control or narcissistic abuse.

My theoretical orientation is integrative. The main theories I integrate are: Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic; Existential; Person Centred Relational; Transactional Analysis and Inner Child Work.

In private practice I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, bereavement coercive control, depression, trauma, self-esteem, addictions, personality disorders, and the long-term impact of domestic or parental abuse. Alongside being therapist, I am also a qualified Clinical Supervisor and offer supervision to fellow professionals in a calm and supportive environment.

Please get in touch to arrange a 20 minute telephone consultation, which is free of charge. This will give you an opportunity to see if we can work together and discuss an initial session.
