BSc (Hons) MBCAP MNCPS (Acc.) Counsellor

Do you feel anxiety over any or every aspect of your life? Are you questioning or doubting your choices? Maybe you’re at a crossroads in your life? Do you feel uncomfortable in your own skin – not good enough or unable to be authentic?

These are just some of the questions you may have that led you to seek help. I offer a practice of counselling that has been proven to help you pick your way through your troubling times. I work Humanistically, meaning I work collaboratively with you, the client, being the expert on yourself – there is no hierarchy in the counselling room.

Our first sessions will centre around building the foundations of a trusting relationship in which you can feel safe whilst exploring your feelings and emotions. I aim to provide this safe and secure environment using three key elements – empathy, honesty while remaining non-judgmental. Your sessions will be led by you dictating the pace at which we travel.

There may be counselling sessions with a serious tone, but I also make room for humour. I will walk hand in hand with you through each session and endeavour to help you to help yourself by communicating with you in a down to earth manner, using unpretentious language.

Experience

As a qualified, accredited counsellor with over 20 years’ experience within health and social care, I understand how complex some people are. I have a genuine willingness and curiosity to explore the unique way in which you process the experience of being you.

I have a wealth of personal experience which enhances and compliments my professional work. When you talk to me, you can be assured I will hold the safe space for you. I also recognise some of the issues you may struggle with overlap and cannot be pigeon-holed into a specific category. My practice has the flexibility and fluidity to take this into account.

I have had the privilege of working with people of various ages and supported many of them going through the most difficult times of their life including but not limited to:

  • Relationship issues
  • Low self-esteem and/or self-worth
  • Co-dependency
  • Anxiety and/or depression
  • Grief and loss through bereavement, divorce or a relationship breakdown
  • Age related cognition and/or mobility decline
  • Addiction and surviving life in recovery

First Steps to Contact

I know how daunting it can be to take the first steps in contacting a stranger – yet knowing asking for help. With this in mind, I offer a free 30-minute phone call consultation. This will give us both an opportunity to assess if we can work together.

After your initial consultation, we can confirm your first face-to-face session. I will send you a confirmation email stating the time and date and also containing general information about the length of our sessions, frequency and cancellation policy etc.

At our first session, I can answer any administration questions you may have before we begin exploring what brings you to therapy.

I offer short or long-term therapy, but you will never be under any obligation to commit to a set period of time if you choose not to.
