Chartered Counselling Psychologist
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist accredited with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). I have worked for the NHS, the Priory Hospital Group and also in private practice. I specialise in Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioural and Humanistic Therapies. I work with a range of psychological difficulties, I treat problems in the here-and-now such as: (i) adjusting to traumatic life events (PTSD, loss and bereavement), (ii) anxiety management (panic, avoidance, OCD), as well as longer term problems such as (iii) low self-esteem, eating disturbances, mood disturbances and interpersonal stresses.
I specialise in working with adult individuals. My approach is relational and collaborative where the client and I make sense of difficulties – where they come from, what keeps them going, what makes it hard to let them go – and in this way, find other ways of being in the world that are not self-defeating, painful or disheartening. It can often be helpful to work with the past, to build self-awareness and understanding in order to find a healthier way forward. In my work I aim to help the individual become the person he or she wants to be.
In addition to my core training, I have attended training on other therapeutic approaches including Schema therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I regularly partake in additional training, workshops and reading to enhance my skills and knowledge on a range of psychological difficulties and life issues.
I am a Registered Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) – registration number PYL05690.
I am approved by and registered with all of the major private health insurance companies including:
Bupa, AXA PPP, Aviva, Vitality Health / Pruhealth, Cigna and Simply Health.
