Luiza Keen

MBACP, BA(Hons) Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Hello and a warm welcome.

I’m Luiza, and I work as a relational integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer short-term and open-ended therapy to adults experiencing emotional difficulties, relationship problems, crises and life transitions, as well as those wishing to understand themselves more deeply.

Sometimes life can appear to be going well on the outside while feeling very different within. You may feel overwhelmed, anxious, sad or stuck; be struggling with relationships, grief, low self-esteem or the effects of past experiences; or simply feel that you have lost your sense of self or direction.

I aim to create a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental relationship where you can explore your experiences openly, without pressure to provide the ‘right’ answers. You do not need to arrive knowing what is wrong or having the words to explain it. We can be gently curious together.

My approach is relational and integrative, drawing on humanistic, psychodynamic, existential and body-oriented perspectives and adapting our work to your individual needs. Together, we can explore what you are experiencing now and make meaning of how earlier experiences and relationships may influence your feelings, choices and patterns today.

I have a particular interest in dealing with shame, relationships, attachment, identity, trauma and life transitions, including women’s health, menopause, parenting and changes in our sense of self. I also welcome men experiencing emotional or relationship difficulties.

I believe greater understanding creates greater choice. By approaching ourselves with curiosity rather than judgement, we can develop self-acceptance and confidence and find new ways of moving forward.

I’ll meet you where you are, so you can begin to discover where you want to be.

Experience

Over the years, I gained clinical experience through working for charities providing community mental health support, working with people experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural and relational difficulties.

Before and alongside my therapeutic training, I spent 12 years working in schools with young people facing the challenges of growing up in today’s world. I also supported parents in understanding their children and developing more authentic and accepting parent-child relationships.

My continuing professional development includes trauma therapy, group work, anger management and life coaching. I undertake regular clinical supervision and ongoing training.

My professional and lived experiences have taught me humility, sensitivity and the importance of listening carefully without making assumptions about another person’s experience.
