Accredited Registrant Membership NCPS (MNCPS Acc.), Level 7 Postgraduate Dip. in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling & Psychotherapy (3 years)
Formerly a UK diplomat, it was the profound learning I experienced in therapy which led to my desire to use my skills and lived experience to help others. Through my own change and in-depth postgraduate psychotherapy training – as well as my previous work in an NHS crisis team and for Mind – I understand the range of human experience, why unhelpful and unfulfilling patterns form, and how to help you heal and achieve lasting change.
You might be experiencing work, relationship or family issues, struggling with symptoms of anxiety or depression, or navigating challenging life circumstances. Perhaps you feel stuck or discontent. Whatever you are bringing, we’ll explore your difficulties together at a pace which feels right for you. You’ll understand yourself better, feel better and move away from any unhelpful or unfulfilling patterns which might be holding you back.
I work as a Transactional Analysis (TA) psychotherapist, a type of therapy which integrates aspects of CBT, psychodynamic and relational therapies to create a new powerful psychological and practical model for change.
Latest psychotherapy research shows the quality of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is key. TA therapy involves a collaboration and dialogue in which I’ll work with you in an honest, empathic and gently challenging therapeutic alliance.
You’ll have space to express and explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without fear or judgement, as we work together towards your desired goals. Initially we’ll focus on helping you to understand, process and manage your current struggles, and to feel better. Then, if appropriate, we’ll take a deeper look at any longer term patterns, and their root causes, to foster lasting healing and an easier, more fulfilling way of living which feels in line with who you are.
I support clients over age 18, with particular experience of working with low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem and relationship difficulties in addition to my work with clients presenting with a diverse range of struggles and symptoms.
Experience
I have worked for Mind’s counselling & psychotherapy service, as well as an NHS crisis team. Currently I work exclusively in private practice.
