Sarah Morris
MA, BA (hons) Psychotherapist
I’m a Dramatherapist with over 18 years’ of clinical experience. I work with children, young people, and adults with a wide range of needs. My aim is to help my clients navigate the challenges they are facing, build resilience, and thrive. Together we’ll think about your goals for therapy and how we can work towards achieving them.
What is Dramatherapy? (Will I have to do some acting?)
Not if you don’t want to! I offer a highly skilled, creative approach to therapy that uses aspects of storytelling, imagination, and the Arts to help you externalise and explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences that can be hard to put into words.
In our sessions, we might use:
- Creative tools like art materials, objects, image cards, or music
- Stories and metaphors to explore difficult experiences from a safe distance
- And yes, talking too – as much or as little as feels right for you
Sessions are led by you and what feels comfortable. Some people are drawn to using creativity, others prefer to talk, and many enjoy a mix of both. As we build our therapeutic relationship, our session routine will develop in the way that feels right for you. If you’re looking for a therapist who combines clinical expertise with a creative, compassionate approach, I’d be happy to hear from you.
Experience
I’m registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and hold a Master’s degree in Dramatherapy from Roehampton University. I have extensive experience working across NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, schools, voluntary sector, and specialist therapeutic settings. I am currently Senior Dramatherapist at a Neuro-rehabilitation Hospital in London, working with adults with acquired and traumatic brain injury. My career has included leading therapeutic services, working with looked-after and adopted children and young people, and supporting hundreds of families across diverse communities in London, Surrey, Portsmouth, and Hampshire.
