Deciding to come for counselling can be the first step in making a significant change in your life. I believe that we all have the ability, to grow and evolve, often in response to challenges we encounter in our lives.

Counselling may be a new experience for you and might feel daunting. I can help by providing a calm, nurturing and confidential space in which I will accompany and support you on your counselling path.

I work with people over the age of 18. I specialise in the key stages of women’s lives and the transitions they often involve, such as leaving home, building & maintaining a career, forming relationships, infertility, maternity & loss, motherhood, managing family life, divorce, menopause, redundancy & retirement, ageing and caring for others.

I have an integrative approach, which means I use a variety of models and theories to underpin our work together, these include Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Existentialist and Transpersonal. The quality of the relationship between client and counsellor has been shown to be key in predicting the success of counselling, consequently, I provide a free 30 minute telephone consultation during which you can assess whether would like to work with me.

Experience

I have worked with clients on a wide range of issues including sexual assault, illness & chronic pain, consequences of addiction, traumatic childhood, anxiety, abusive relationships, guilt and shame, loss and bereavement, sexual abuse.

I have experience of working in low-cost, open-ended counselling in a Women’s centre and in short term counselling for students and staff at a university. I am about to develop my experience further by counselling in a women’s prison.

Before training to be a counsellor, I worked for over 30 years in Human Resources in a large organisation. Here I had experience of supporting employees and managers through a range of workplace issues including harassment and bullying, disciplinary and grievance, redundancy and retirement. I also provided coaching, mentoring , and training to staff. The experience of working with people of all ages and from many cultures gave me insight to the challenges of human life and strengthened my belief in the inner resilience and the potential for growth and change.
