My job is to provide you with a safe, secure and confidential place where you and I can explore what lies beneath your present difficulties. This will increase your understanding of yourself so that you can better address those things that are preventing your life from being as good as it could be.
I use an integrative approach – which means that I draw on a number of theories in my work, and am able to tailor my approach to individual clients.
However, underpinning everything will be the relationship we make together – whether you decide on short-term counselling or embark on the more intensive journey of medium to longer term psychotherapy.
I believe, as much research has concluded, that the relationship between patient and therapist is central to the work, and my aim is therefore to help you to feel comfortable and accepted so that difficult issues can be explored and worked through.
I work with adults (over 18), couples and older adults.
I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Integrative Counselling from the University of Surrey at Roehampton and am therefore able to use an integrative approach – incorporating psychodynamic, person-centred and existential theories.
Originally from commerce and industry, I have been counselling since 2004; including time in the voluntary sector and several years with Macmillan counselling cancer patients and their families.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
