MBACP Humanistic Counsellor
As an experienced Humanistic Counsellor I offer adults (18 and over) a caring, safe and confidential space. We can work together with whatever you choose to bring. I am also a Counselling Lecturer so work with trainee counselling students too.
People seek counselling support for many reasons. You may have a clear sense of what is troubling you or a more generalised feeling that life has lost its meaning, feel overwhelmed or stuck. I work with adults from all walks of life who are facing a broad range of challenges.
For me, counselling is not about categorising people using labels. We all have our own unique experiences. I offer a caring, confidential and non-judgemental space to explore and reflect on your unique individual situation. I will listen closely to how things are for you now and any unresolved issues from the past, explore what is important to you and help you decide how things might be going forward. By gaining a clearer understanding of your situation and a sense of what you want in your life new choices and possibilities often emerge through the counselling process.
I am also a Lecturer in Counselling. So if you are a trainee counselling student on a Diploma or Degree course I can offer help with your personal development and academic needs.
Counselling sessions are 50 minutes long and take place once a week in the same time slot reserved just for you.
I offer both short and long-term counselling agreements. I primarily work in an open-ended way and review with you how long you wish to continue.
Previously I have worked as a Teacher in mainstream secondary schools and in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) for young people with social, emotional and behavioural challenges.
I also have experience working with adults, as a volunteer, in several counselling agencies as well as seeing clients in my own private counselling service.
