Emily Reynolds
MBCAP, PG Dip Counsellor & Psychotherapist
About Me
I am an integrative counsellor working with adults and young people aged 14+. I offer a warm, supportive and collaborative space where you can talk about whatever is troubling you without judgement. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, loss, relationships, stress or self-esteem.
In addition to working at the Eaves I am a school counsellor, and am particularly passionate about supporting young people with the increasing pressures they face. I have experience working with a range of challenges including friendships, self-confidence, identity, self-harm, anxiety and neurodivergence.
Meaningful change often begins with greater awareness and understanding of ourselves. By exploring what has shaped you and becoming more aware of patterns that may be keeping you stuck, you can begin to have more choice in how you respond. Through our work, you can develop a stronger sense of self and feel more empowered to make choices that serve you and your relationships.
My Approach
Therapy is very individual; there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Our work may involve exploring the past and making connections with the present, focusing on what is happening in your life now, or finding practical ways to approach something differently. Often, it will be a combination.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship we build together. I believe that feeling safe enough to be open, and experiencing being seen and heard without judgement, can itself be an important part of change.
I take an active and collaborative approach to therapy. As we explore what is happening for you, I will be curious, help you notice patterns and make connections, and where it feels helpful, gently challenge you or offer another perspective. I may also introduce practical strategies or ways of understanding what you’re experiencing, depending on what feels most useful to you.
My training is in integrative therapy, which means I draw on different therapeutic perspectives depending on you and what you need. I have a particular interest in attachment and psychodynamic approaches. This means we may explore how early relationships and experiences have shaped the way you see yourself, relate to others and cope with difficulties today. Understanding where patterns come from, and the purpose they may once have served, can help us consider whether they are still serving you now.
Experience
School Counsellor – East to West Trust (Current)
I have worked with the East to West Trust for over three years, a charity that supports children, young people and families through mental health support, mentoring and community based programmes. The charity works alongside 84 schools, hospitals and Gp surgeries to help young people navigate challenges, build resilience, and improve their emotional and social wellbeing.
I work in line with BACP guidance to provide therapeutic interventions offering a safe, confidential and boundaried space that fosters a non-judgemental and supportive relationship.
Youthline Bracknell
During my counselling training, over a period of 16 months, I provided one-to-one therapy to young people and school staff facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties and challenges at school.
NHS Mental Health Volunteer
I have previously volunteered on a psychiatric ward, supporting patients who had been detained under the Mental Health Act.
