Megan Stafford

BSc, MSc, Dip. Clin. Integ. Psychotherapy

I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and author with over 15 years of experience working with adults (18 years+). I offer short and long term work.

I am registered with the following private health insurers: AXA Health, Vitality Health, Aviva.

How can I help you? Our everyday conversations with friends, family and colleagues can be hugely supportive and important. However, it is also sometimes just as important to have a more neutral and/or focused space in which we can talk about the things that are troubling to us, causing us stress or even pain. Equally, it is not always the case that we have friends, family or colleagues who are easily accessible and so sometimes we can feel like we’re lacking regular, supportive contact. I aim to provide a non-judgemental, collaborative, and confidential space in which you can talk about whatever it is that you need to – whether it is to simply decompress, explore something in more depth, or to seek to implement change.

My experience and interests span a wide range of issues listed (but not limited to) above, but If you are unsure whether or not I am able to help, feel free to get in touch and make an initial inquiry. I ask all new clients if they would be happy to have a brief chat online (free of charge, no obligation) so that we can both check in that I am the right person for you to work with. The most important thing is for you to find someone you are comfortable with and who has the right experience and training to work with what’s troubling you. I work with a very broad range of issues, but if you or I think you might benefit from working with someone with different, or specialist experience, we can discuss your options and, if I can, I will provide you with a referral or recommendation.

I have a particular interest in supporting parents through the often complex and emotionally demanding experience of parenting. This can include those becoming parents for the first time, as well as parents navigating uncertainty, change, or the fears and self-doubt that can arise at different stages. Many people find it helpful to have a space to reflect on their experience of parenting alongside other aspects of their lives, relationships, and sense of self.

Experience

My initial training was a 5-year Masters level programme at Metanoia Institute and I have a background in counselling and psychotherapy research, writing, supervision and teaching. I currently lead the MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (adult) training at the University of Roehampton.

I have previously worked privately, for community services, a boarding school and in charities within London and the Greater London area.
