MBACP Counsellor

You may be searching for a counsellor because you have a specific problem that you would like support with. Or you may not be able to pinpoint exactly what’s bothering you, you just know that life is a bit tricky right now. I can help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, perhaps in a way that you’ve never done before. You can be open and honest without fear of judgement. I won’t advise you or tell you what to do but, by exploring your situation in depth, I can help you make sense of your emotions, so you have a better understanding of yourself.

As a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor, I draw on theories from person centred, CBT and psychodynamic modalities. Each client is a unique individual and I adapt how I work accordingly, tailoring my approach to one that best suits you. I’m easy to talk to, down to earth, most definitely non-judgemental, and I welcome clients from all walks of life. During our sessions we may talk about things from your past that are still having an impact on you today, or we may stay firmly in the present. We may explore the choices that you have and how you’d like to move forward, or maybe for you it’s about finding acceptance. I will gently challenge you, but you set the pace. It may take a while before you have trust in our relationship to completely open up, or you may be someone who jumps straight in and tells all! There is no right or wrong way!

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to arrange an initial information call. During this 10–15-minute call we can discuss your issues, and what you would like to get out of counselling. I will explain more about the way I work and together we can decide if we are a good ‘fit’ for each other. If you decide that you would like to go ahead, we can look at suitable days & times.

Experience

I spent 3 years with the Samaritan’s as a listening volunteer. I also worked for 3 years as a volunteer counsellor with Phoenix Counselling, a low-cost agency in Feltham, whose aim is to make counselling accessible to all. I now work with clients through my private practice.

In my personal life I support my autistic adult daughter and am very familiar with the specific mental health struggles that autistic girls face. Late diagnosis, masking, school attendance, anxiety and friendship difficulties affect the whole family. I also have first-hand experience of Tourette Syndrome and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and am very aware of the challenges these conditions present.
