I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. I often work with clients who are processing and making sense of loss and change in their lives. Clients say that having a safe and compassionate space to work through these changes can bring about healing.
You may be looking for support with a specific area of your life or perhaps it is something more general, something that is hard to name. I can help support you in processing changes in your life. I have experience of working with many clients who are dealing with loss in various ways. This can be loss of a loved one, loss of relationships, losing a career and many more. Loss comes in all shapes and sizes. I offer you a space in which you can explore and make sense of what is going on for you. When working together in a therapeutic relationship based on authentic communication, respect, and empathy you open the possibility to finding your unique path to personal growth and healing.
The importance of a strong therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is well supported in research. However, I appreciate that choosing your counsellor can be daunting. To help you make your decision I offer a free 20-minute consultation, this gives you the chance to ask any questions and provides you with an opportunity to see if I am the right counsellor for you.
I work using an integrative model, which means that I draw on multiple theoretical approaches whilst holding the relationship at the centre of all that we do. I will ask questions and aim to remain curious to you and your experiences. Sessions are led by you, and we move at your pace. I will challenge you at times and this is an important part of the work. However, I aim to do this with compassion and respect.
If you would like a consultation, then please do get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
In addition to my private practice, I spent 2 years working at a local hospice supporting patients, carers, and bereaved relatives. I offered a therapeutic space in which people could explore their experiences without judgement or risk of burdening. I supported clients in finding their way of living with their loss.
I currently work with at a local university supporting students through the many challenges of university life. In this role I offer support with coping strategies for anxiety.
As a member of the BACP I adhere to the ethical guidelines that they outline. I attend regular supervision sessions where I gain guidance and support in my work from a registered supervisor. I am committed to continual profession development through attending training workshops, talks and ensuring that I am aware of current research.
