Hi, I am Camelia, qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, creative arts practitioner and educator, and clay therapist in training. I work with adults and have experience supporting clients through life transitions, relationship concerns, experiences of loss and grief, low self-esteem, depression and anxiety.
Additionally, I have been volunteering with a bereavement charity in Greater London which enabled me to develop a specialism in bereavement counselling.
Being multi-qualified, with experience in legal, educational and artistic environments prior to becoming a counsellor, has increased my empathy towards and enables me to also support you with issues such as workplace stress and burnout, low confidence, self-doubt, perfectionism and impostor syndrome.
Besides offering traditional talking therapy, I have an interest in the person as a whole: how and where the body holds emotions, how unexpressed or unacknowledged emotions can re-surface as physical pain, how we can create bridges to the unconscious and can deepen our self-awareness through creativity, drawing, painting, clay, working with images, using our bodies to breathe, meditate and move. In a session with me you can expect to experience all the traditional elements of ‘talking therapy’: active listening, use of silence, noticing and encouraging you to explore repeating patterns or particular phrases you use, curious exploration of potential themes you bring to the sessions and of your past and present beliefs and experiences. You can also expect me to show interest in your wellbeing routines, and in the physical manifestation of your emotions and I may suggest breathing techniques, grounding exercises, movement, meditation and creative outlets such as drawing or using clay to explore emotions, ideas and experiences.
I am calm and reassuring, with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach. I believe that each individual is the expert in their own life, knowing intuitively what they need to feel better. My approach is to witness your unique process and respond in ways intended to empower you to find your own way.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and practice in accordance with their ethical framework. I have regular supervision and attend regular CPD training.
