I’m Suzanne and I’m based at The Eaves Godalming. I work with young people (16-18 years) and individual adults for shorter or longer term therapy, depending on your needs.
Life can bring many challenges, both from the past and in the present. A common aim for therapy is to reach a place of understanding and accepting ourselves more fully, and feeling empowered to make choices that have a positive impact on our wellbeing and happiness.
Being an integrative therapist, I adapt the way I work to best suit each client’s needs, using different theoretical approaches in practice. If it is helpful in exploring feelings and experiences, we may also work creatively: through writing, poetry, art or music for example. I would describe myself as an attachment-focused, relational therapist. I believe that the quality of past relationships, particularly with primary caregivers, has an impact on the people we are today and the choices we make. I deeply believe that the relationship between ‘you and me’ i.e. between therapist and client, provides the foundation for our work together. It is key, therefore, that you feel truly seen and heard and feel accepted, without judgement, for who you are, in all your uniqueness. Our work is collaborative, led by you.
The most important ‘qualification’ when choosing the right therapist for you is how you feel. I therefore offer an initial online or in person chat, to see if we might be a good ‘fit’ to work together.
I undertake regular continuous professional development (CPD) to further my knowledge and skills. I also have monthly supervision, a requirement for all counsellors and therapists, which allows me to reflect on my work and develop my practice.
