Leanne Alanson

Counsellor

I am a qualified counsellor and an accredited registrant member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Counselling is a second career for me. I retrained as a therapeutic counsellor after raising my family and running a family business.
If you’re facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, low confidence, grief, relationship difficulties, or other personal struggles, I offer a confidential and compassionate space where you can speak openly and be truly heard—without judgement.
Life doesn’t always run smoothly, and there are times when it can feel overwhelming. While we often manage to cope, there are moments when things can become too much—leaving us feeling lost, burdened, disconnected, or emotionally drained. This is when therapy can provide valuable support.
I work one-to-one with adults aged 18 and over. My experience spans a wide range of issues, and I tailor the length and focus of our work—whether short-term or open-ended—to meet your individual needs and goals.
Every person’s experience is different, and I reflect that in my approach. I draw from a variety of therapeutic methods, including person-centred therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, grief counselling, and mindfulness-based techniques. Whether you’re navigating the deep pain of loss, living with persistent health concerns, or facing other challenges, I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, in your own time.

Experience

In addition to my private practice, I have the following experience.
Since 2023 I have been fortunate enough to be part of a counselling team for a Surrey hospice, and in more recent months I have started working in the community as a palliative care counsellor, working with patients dealing with life-limiting illnesses.
