Sarah Sunkin

MBACP Counsellor

Thank you for visiting my profile. I am Sarah, a professional, qualified, and dedicated counsellor ready to welcome you to a non-judgmental, therapeutic environment where you will be listened to and heard. By working together, I offer the opportunity for you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your life’s experiences.

Counselling provides a confidential space where you can freely express yourself and explore your experiences. My approach is collaborative, relational and supportive. I hold the view that the rapport between the counsellor and the client is crucial in our joint efforts. Working alongside you, I believe that you possess the necessary resources to re-find your way when offered the right conditions for growth.

I have specific training and experience in supporting individuals through bereavement and caring for loved ones with a terminal illness.

My personal and professional journey has also led me to feel passionately about working with women experiencing low self-esteem, lack of confidence or a sense of being lost in their identity and relationships.

Providing support in times of difficulty and witnessing clients discover a path to a stronger sense of self has been a privilege, and now I look forward to hearing from you.

Counselling is an opportunity for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns, in a safe environment. Exploring your thoughts and behaviours can help you to develop a better understanding of yourself and others. It can also help you to find your own solutions in life, whether that’s making effective changes or finding new ways to cope with problems.

All enquiries are welcome and I provide a 20-minute exploratory call to establish if we will be suited to working together.

Experience

My experience spans charitable and private sectors, as well as the NHS where I have supported clients facing a variety of challenges and needs. I have worked as a counsellor for The Youth Counselling Service (NHS) and Emmaus, a low cost counselling service for adults.

I also work in a supportive role at a Hospice and an inpatient facility for eating disorders and addictions, where I have enhanced my understanding of others and their challenging life experiences.
