MBACP, FdSc Counsellor

We are creatures of habit – this helps us navigate life. Sometimes, though, life throws profound changes at us we did not expect: bereavement, illness, low mood and anxiety or relationship problems. If this happens, familiar patterns can guide us – or they may get in the way of identifying what lies beneath our distress.

If you are facing a challenging situation, or if you are feeling stuck in a place you don’t want to be in, I can support you. Change is possible.

As in integrative practitioner, I work with psychodynamic and humanistic approaches.

My belief is that if we know our selves, and what makes us the way we are, change is possible. Together, we might be in the here and now and observe what comes up in the therapy room. We might explore the past and uncover patterns of attachment to understand how they shaped you. We can focus on talking, and we can be creative to bring out what’s on your mind. I tailor the sessions to your unique needs as we go along.

I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can feel listened to and gather strength and focus to look at the challenges in your life.

Experience

During a placement at Phyllis Tuckwell, I have gained sound experience in grief counselling. I also volunteer at a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse and rape. Through working with people on the autistic spectrum for the last ten years, I understand how neurodivergence can shape lives.

Therapy has supported me in difficult patches my life – I know first-hand how being in a safe space with an attentive, non-judgmental therapist can help establish a sense of clarity and hope.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to the Ethical Framework to ensure I practise professionally and safely. Continuous professional development and regular supervision are part of keeping up to date, remaining curious and stepping back to gain perspective.
