Suman Poojari

MBACP, MCom Integrative Counsellor

Hi, I’m Suman a BACP registered integrative therapist working with adults, young people & teens aged 13 and over. I believe it is important to build a safe and compassionate environment for you to be heard and understood. Being an integrative therapist means, I draw from a range of different approaches to support with your unique needs.

I support clients with a range of challenges, including:

• Anxiety, low mood, stress & overthinking – understand your inner world, manage stress, and feel grounded.

• Self-esteem, confidence & people-pleasing – set boundaries, quiet inner critics, and reconnect with yourself.

• Trauma ( childhood & sexual) ,past patterns – recognise triggers, make sense of your past, and begin to heal.

• Life transitions – bereavement, empty nest, breakups, illness, redundancy, and major change.

• Cultural identity & intergenerational stress – explore roots, identity cross-cultural experiences to find your place in this world.

My experience involves working with people from diverse backgrounds addressing a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, loss, trauma, relationship difficulties, sexual abuse, self-harm and suicidal ideation.

My practice is focused on creating a respectful and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges. This provides a space where we can broaden your emotional range to help build resilience, creating greater freedom, expression, and authenticity.

Experience

I retrained as an integrative counsellor following a 20-year career in the city with top tier investment banks. My journey into counselling started off by volunteering for a national bereavement charity and a local youth charity in various roles whilst getting retrained. These diverse experiences have enhanced and strengthened my understanding of human connections. I offer short-term and long-term counselling, my practice is LGBTQ affirmative and neurodiverse which supports my approach to be flexible and adaptable to suit each of my clients’ unique needs.

Alongside my private practice, I am an affiliate of a sexual abuse charity in the UK and a part-time Service Manager at a counselling agency in Hampshire.
