Nina Hyland

Counsellor and Psychotherapist MSc, MNCPS Acc.

It can be difficult to take care of yourself during the best of times, and this task feels unmanageable when life gets hard. We all possess resilience, but sometimes it can be hard to find your inner strength.

Perhaps you have experienced the frustration and confusion when certain patterns keep repeating over and over again regardless of what you try to change. You may also know what it’s like to be stuck in a dark place with no clear way out. Sometimes a person with a new perspective can be what you need to see the options you have.

Hi, I’m Nina, a counsellor and psychotherapist who specialises in supporting individuals in navigating challenges like low self-esteem, neurodiversity, and difficulties in forming meaningful connections. I am passionate about helping people uncover and reshape the hidden patterns that influence their lives, empowering them to take control and move toward the life they want. Everyone faces different struggles in life, and I aim to provide a safe space where you can explore your problems and offer support in facing them and creating healthier coping strategies.

I deeply believe in the value of human connection. As social beings, we all yearn for relationships that are healthy and supportive, but I also understand how hard it can be to create those connections. Loneliness is different for everyone—some struggle to form connections, while others still feel lonely in a crowd. No matter where you are on this spectrum, I want to help you build a support network that nurtures and sustains you.

Areas of Expertise:

I specialise in working with clients on issues such as:

Low self-esteem and self-worth
Neurodiversity (e.g., ADHD, autism, sensory processing issues)
Anxiety and overwhelm
Building meaningful relationships and addressing loneliness
Navigating life transitions and decision-making
Resolving emotional patterns and self-doubt
Trauma work
Depression

Approach to Therapy:

I work wholistically, meaning I integrate different approaches such as CBT, psychoanalytic and person-centred approaches based on my client’s needs. My approach is collaborative and compassionate, designed to help you untangle life patterns that may be holding you back. I focus on empowering you to develop greater self-worth, overcome the inner critic, and stop putting yourself down. At the same time, I work with you to cultivate self-compassion, because I believe that empathy for yourself can profoundly improve the way you relate to others and the world around you.

When it comes to connection, I want to help you find the relationships you deserve. Together, we’ll explore what connection means for you, understand the barriers to forming healthy and supportive relationships, and create a pathway to build a network of meaningful connections in your life.

Who I Work With:

I work with individuals from all walks of life who are navigating challenges such as loneliness, low self-esteem, or the complexities of neurodiversity. Whether you’re seeking clarity, self-confidence, or stronger relationships, I’ll meet you where you are with understanding and support.
I understand how isolating it can feel when you’re struggling with low self-esteem or a lack of connection. I believe wholeheartedly that, together, we can uncover what’s hindering you, find your self-worth, and help you build the relationships you need to thrive. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your challenges and discover your inner strength.

I also offer counselling in Russian if required.

Let’s Work Together:

If you’re ready to build meaningful connections, cultivate self-worth, and move toward the life you’ve been longing for, I’d be honoured to support you. Reach out to schedule a session or learn more about how we can work together.

Testimonials:

“I can live freely without being weighed down by self-doubt. I now believe that I am worthy of love and respect and can face the challenges that once held me back.”

“Before I went to therapy, I was struggling with my relationships and was overworking myself to avoid my anxiety. Now I have been able to create a loving community and I learned how important it is to look after yourself and to take a break.”

“I was struggling with accepting my diagnosis of autism and was struggling with my relationships. Now I feel like I can accept myself and embrace my differences. This has helped me a lot with my personal relationships.”

“I was grieving a loss but was able to process it thanks to therapy. I also had trouble with falling into the same scenario over and over again, but now I am able to create a new scenario after understanding what was making me repeat the pattern in the first place.”
