Eleanor Gavira
PGDip Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
With over 20 years of experience in mental health, I offer evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) designed to help you overcome life’s challenges and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. As a dual-trained CBT Therapist (Low-Intensity & High-Intensity CBT ) and special educational needs teacher, I tailor therapy to meet your unique needs – whether you’re seeking focused, practical support or deeper, long-term change. Areas of Support – Depression, Worry & Stress Management, Panic & Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder, Health Anxiety, OCD, Mild to Moderate PTSD.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a Special Educational Needs teacher, and I have a particular interest in supporting neurodiverse individuals who may have found traditional therapy challenging. I am also passionate about helping women navigating menopause and peri-menopause, offering a supportive space to manage the emotional and cognitive changes.
Therapy with me is a collaborative partnership built on empathy, trust, and shared decision-making. My approach is compassionate, practical, and goal-focused – giving you tools to understand your thoughts and make meaningful changes.
Experience
I have extensive experience supporting individuals across the lifespan, from young children aged 4 to adults in their 90s. My work has taught me to deeply value the unique intersection of each person’s background, culture, and life experiences, and I am passionate about providing care that honours multiculturalism and diversity.
Before specialising in mental health, I worked as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher, supporting children and young people with a range of neurodiverse profiles. This foundation continues to shape my approach, helping me offer compassionate, tailored support to people with differing ways of experiencing the world.
For the past seven years, I have worked within local NHS Trusts, and prior to that I supported young people and families through CAMHS in Surrey. These roles have given me a broad and solid grounding in understanding mental health needs at every stage of life.
More recently, I have developed a strong interest in women’s wellbeing during menopause and especially how this transitional period affects women with neurodiversity. I am committed to increasing awareness, improving support, and helping women navigate the emotional and psychological impact of this stage of life with confidence and clarity.
