Aimee Bishop
FdSc MBACP | Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Are you looking for a counsellor and psychotherapist who truly understands the complexities of those who have gone through some heavy stuff?
I offer a unique blend of professional expertise and personal insight to support and empower you to make change, explore challenges and grow. I provide online sessions, making counselling accessible in your safe and comfortable space.
How I can help
I specialise in supporting adults aged 18 and over with:
– Low mood, depression and feelings of uncertainty
– Navigating challenges caused by relationships
– Moving forward from trauma and traumatic events
– Self-discovery and personal growth
– Understanding addictive behaviours
– And much more.
My approach
Imagine having a conversation with someone who not only listens intently but also offers gentle challenges to help you see your situation from new angles. That’s what working with me is like.
My approach is all about truly hearing your story and understanding your unique experiences, empowering you to tap into your strength, and gently uncovering or challenging perspectives that may be keeping you stuck.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I believe our past experiences are like puzzle pieces that make up who we are today.
Together, we’ll explore these pieces – some may fit perfectly, others might need adjusting, and a few might belong to a different puzzle altogether. By understanding how these pieces fit together, you can create a clearer picture of your present and shape a more fulfilling future.
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, I tune in to what works best for you, drawing from specialised trauma-informed training.
A bit about me
I’ve walked in similar shoes to many of my clients. My own journey through mental health struggles informs my empathetic but no-nonsense approach to counselling. Plus, with nearly 20 years of experience in the corporate marketing world, I bring a unique perspective to work-related challenges and life transitions.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), you can trust in the professionalism and confidentiality of our sessions.
Whether you’re grappling with a relationship issue, trying to process past traumatic experiences, moving forward in addiction recovery, or simply looking to understand yourself better, I’m here to support you.
Book an intro call with me today, and together we can work towards self-discovery and positive change.
Experience
I have experience working with a range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic abuse and addictions.
My experience in working in women’s centres and women’s prisons has given me a deep appreciation for the diverse challenges women who have been through past traumatic experiences face.
Whether you’re dealing with relationship patterns that keep bringing chaos, trying to build a life after trauma, or just know something needs to change but can’t quite figure out what – I get it. And more importantly, I can help.
