This CPD session will provide an introduction to family law and explore some of the key legal issues that clients may face when relationships break down. It will cover the process of no-fault divorce and the distinction between separating and formally ending a marriage, as well as the factors that may be considered when dividing family finances.
The session will also look at issues relating to children, including how courts approach decisions about a child’s best interests and arrangements for children spending time between two homes. In addition, it will consider the legal protections available where there are safeguarding concerns for clients and/or their children.
The session will explore practical ways clients may be able to reduce legal costs, including options for resolving family disputes outside of court.
There will also be an interactive Q&A, providing an opportunity to ask questions and explore areas of family law that may be particularly relevant to therapeutic practice.
