Women & ADHD – The Hidden Story Behind Symptoms, Hormones & Mental Health

Wednesday 21st January 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Two women sitting on a sofa smiling and looking at a smartphone together, with a circular headshot of another smiling woman on the left, and The Eaves Academy Farnham logo on the right. A purple box with the word “CPD” appears in the top-left corner, promoting CPD training on ADHD in women.

ADHD is often stereotyped as a childhood condition seen primarily in boys, however, many women reach adulthood without recognition of their symptoms. Instead, they are frequently mislabelled with anxiety, depression or stress-related disorders, leaving the true underlying cause unaddressed.

The following key topics will be explored:

This CPD will unpack how ADHD can present differently in women, with symptoms that are typically more internalised, including:

  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Chronic disorganisation
  • Perfectionism
  • Inattentiveness
  • Masking
  • Persistent feelings of underachievement

We will also explore how hormonal changes across the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and menopause can significantly influence ADHD symptoms, affecting dopamine regulation, executive function and emotional stability.

In this CPD we will examine the neuroscience behind ADHD, the unique challenges women face in getting a diagnosis and the evidence-based treatment options available, including medical, psychological and lifestyle approaches. We will discuss how women can harness their strengths, build strategies that work with their brains and access the right support.
