SUMMARY:Menopause and Mental Health: Understanding the Hormone–Brain Connection
DESCRIPTION:Join Kate Organ for a session that sheds light on the often overlooked link between menopause and women’s mental wellbeing.\nThis CPD delves into the dynamic connection between changing hormones\, including oestrogen\, progesterone and testosterone\, and key brain neurotransmitters\, including serotonin\, dopamine and GABA. \nAs these hormones shift throughout the menopausal transition\, they can spark a range of psychological symptoms such as low mood\, anxiety\, irritability\, cognitive fog and disrupted sleep. These experiences are frequently mistaken for standalone mental health conditions rather than recognised as part of a natural hormonal change. \nWhat You’ll Gain from This CPD:\n\nA clear explanation of how menopausal hormonal fluctuations influence brain chemistry\, mood\, cognition and emotional balance.\nA deeper understanding of the physiology linking female hormones with neurotransmitter activity.\nAwareness of how menopause-related symptoms can be misinterpreted or misdiagnosed as mental health disorders.\nAn overview of the full spectrum of medical treatment pathways\, including hormone replacement therapy and non-hormonal options.\nPractical\, evidence-based lifestyle approaches to enhance mental wellbeing in midlife\, covering sleep\, nutrition\, stress management\, movement and social connection.\n\nPresenter:\nKate Organ is a British Menopause Society Registered Menopause Specialist and founder of the Menopause Specialists Clinics\, offering personalised treatment for perimenopause\, menopause\, PMDD and women with ADHD. \nWith nearly 20 years’ experience in NHS mental health\, Kate is a specialist in PMS/PMDD and ADHD. She takes a holistic approach\, reviewing medical history\, lifestyle\, nutrition\, exercise and treatment options. \nKate is dedicated to empowering women with the information they need to make informed healthcare choices.

SUMMARY:Sex and Porn Addiction: Understanding\, Impact and the Path to Healing

For some people\, it remains entertainment but for others it becomes an addition that rewires the brain\, destroys relational intimacy\, and fuels cycles of shame and secrecy. \nThe presentation offers a compassionate and research-based look at sex and porn addition. We will explore the neuroscience of how addiction works\, the psychological and relational consequences and the pathways to recovery. \nThe following key topics will be explored:\n· How sex and porn hijack the brains reward system \n· The cycle of compulsion\, tolerance\, and escalation \n· Emotional roots: trauma\, shame\, and self-medication \n· Impact on relationships intimacy and youth development \n· Effective recovery strategies: therapy\, community\, and brain rewiring \n· Ethical and cultural debate – where is the line between use and addiction \nThe presentation will seek to provide a deeper understanding of porn and sex addiction beyond the myths and provide tools for identifying when use becomes harmful. It will also give some practical strategies for healing and recovery within a compassionate framework which reduces shame. \nPresenting: Ruth Culhane\nI am a psychotherapist with specialist training in Psychosexual and Relationship issues who specialises in helping individuals and couples navigate challenges with intimacy\, sexual function pornography and compulsive sexual behaviour and relationship difficulties.
